Gemini Notebook: an assistant for your device manuals
Imagine an AI that has already read every manual for your electronic gadgets and household appliances, then answers your questions within seconds. If your dishwasher displays an error code, it can tell you what fault that code represents. Dropped your smartphone in water? The same AI can immediately provide the manufacturer’s instructions.
In 2026, this AI already exists: Gemini Notebook, formerly known as NotebookLM. You simply need to set it up. While Google’s research tool can help you revise coursework, analyse large volumes of data or study documents, it can also serve as a genuine support hub for every device you own.
Gemini Notebook is a version of Gemini that answers questions using the sources you provide to the AI, including documents and YouTube videos. As XDA explains, loading this Google AI with all your manuals is enough to turn it into a specialist assistant for using and maintaining your devices.
How to create a “notebook” and add sources
First, go to Gemini Notebook at “notebooklm.google” and sign in. From the Gemini Notebook interface, select “Create a notebook”. This new notebook will be dedicated to your device manuals.
After creating the notebook, you only need to import your files - in this case, your manuals. To make the process easier, it is best to find digital versions of the manuals. If that is not possible, you can create them using your smartphone.
Asking questions and Gemini Notebook limits
Once Gemini Notebook has been supplied with the manuals, enter your questions in the text field at the bottom of the page. However, it remains an AI: even when it relies on specific sources, it can still make mistakes. You should therefore remain cautious and check the information it provides every time.
With the free version of Gemini Notebook, you can add 50 sources to a “notebook”. Each source is limited to 500,000 words.
