Taco Bell’s nacho fries can appear on the menu one day and disappear the next, so I developed a homemade version for the air fryer. If you would rather deep-fry them, use twice as much seasoning, as much of it will be lost in the hot oil.
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 13 mins
Total time: 18 mins
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon chilli powder, or more to taste
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon onion powder
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- 227 g frozen chips (such as Ore-Ida®)
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- ½ (425 g) jar nacho Cheddar cheese sauce (such as Rico's®)
Directions
- Following the manufacturer’s directions, preheat the air fryer to 200°C.
- In a small bowl, combine the paprika, chilli powder, salt, onion powder and garlic powder.
- Tip the chips into a large bowl, drizzle over the vegetable oil and toss to coat. Add the seasoning blend, then toss again until the chips are evenly covered.
- Transfer the seasoned chips to the preheated air-fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes, shake the basket, then continue cooking for roughly 3 minutes, until crisp.
- While the chips cook, warm the cheese sauce in a small saucepan over a medium heat. Serve it alongside the chips for dipping.
